Archim boldo and more

1987

“From 1985 onwards, Pla became a real orchestra man of electronic communication. His first three dimensional computer painting, The Arcimboldo Effect, was awarded the Prize of Excellence in Computer Art in New York.”
Text by Pierre Restany

Arcimboldo
Inspired in the 18th century Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo, and through the means of the computer, Eduardo Pla achieves the three-dimensional representation of one of his works. This work, of which four pictures are shown, was awarded the Award of Excellence in Computer Art, New York, 1987.
Digital Pre-Raphaelism (Alma)
A new naturalism of sorts, based upon the art of painters of the year 80 who recognize intrinsic poetry and the character of a divine message in nature. A journey across the technical world, from the material to the metaphysical, a spiritual inclination that is far from symbolic. The faces do not undergo a transformation: they evolve, and it is this evolution that constitutes their spirituality. As a digital artist, Eduardo Pla revisits the Pre-Raphaelites and contributes to their evolution.
