Kang, Eun-Su’s work shows different images that are created by combining different body parts such as hair and female figures. As a result, the image appears as if it were another kind of unknown life. These images provoke certain memories, words, or experiences of the viewers, inviting them into an “Unknown zone”.
“Chrysalis - what it looked like when it was found.” is the image of a virtual life form made of a human body reassembled after being disassembled. The fragments of these images express Kang’s confused and blurred sensation as a violator of reality’s boundaries, as well as the intense feeling of stability and safety that she ironically feels. The artist intends to direct the viewers toward the “Unknown zone” and let them accept its existence, finally overcoming their inner resistance against it.
