Soft Places represents an intersection of young artists’ diverse points of view on their own society and working conditions. These young artists in Seoul have exercised grouping and ungrouping over the past ten years to help themselves. The name “Soft Places” originated from a dreamy story of desert where you cannot distinguish reality from illusion, yesterday from tomorrow, or a companion from a thief. Wonhwa Yoon and Jeewon Yoon, as researcher and artist respectively, have crossed such soft space-times where your feet sink deep and the landscape transforms overnight. From the past trajectories of each one, Wonhwa Yoon composes the text archive Artists Society and the talk program Spirits, Robbers, and Bell by capturing and collecting the echoing voices inside these disoriented times; Jeewon Yoon presents a single channel video Untitled (World) while attempting to trace a beginning of this unfathomable image-mediated environment.
