The Cube Space

2002

Frame attempts to re-structure within a 3-dimensional space virtual space, contemporary technology, pursuit and the image of time-space in another realm in which all existing entities in time and space are reduced to electronic symbols. It also attempts to explore the potential of media culture in the future by applying the sensuous stimuli of club culture as representative of entertainment culture in daily life and elements of interaction.
This presentation in the exhibition space adopts the approach in which the media equipment commonly used these days is set up within the space along with other common objects that define space and context. It aims for mutual stimulation and exchange among the common objects existing as materials, their digitalized images reduced to electronic codes, sound as material, image as light, and objects.
The video images reminiscent of mountains, sea, the sun, and their movements in space are projected onto all sides of the exhibition space including the ceiling and the floor, while other images devoid of time in spatial movement are presented on the TV monitor in the exhibition space. All the images shown in the space are without time, but sound fills the gap, allowing viewers to feel the passage of time. Such space setting encourages viewers to feel various time zones within the exhibition space while moving from one space to another and offers them a sense of freedom by placing various spatial images in one space.
