In 1999, I created a polyester sculpture in Germany. The figure was a self-portrait, yet wearing the clothes of an ancient Chinese scholar of two thousand years ago. With this sculpture, I made a series of photo shoots in various European and Chinese settings over the past three years. The sets are always modern to create a contrast and allow the viewer to imagine the experience of the “man” from ancient times. This self-portrait or figure, I would like to believe, is another being of me. My works are an expression and link to the past and future, East and West.
