The protagonist of this artwork uses an L-rod or looks at a map drawn on his arm to locate a water vein along a walking path next to a stream. This stream was not formed naturally, however, but was instead created artificially such that its “water vein” is actually a faucet turned on by a district office employee. The artist is said to have composed this work based on the joy she personally felt while walking along the stream and her sense of betrayal when she found out that it was man-made. In this work, water veins that are hidden from view overlap with blood vessels that lay beneath the skin of our bodies, and the act of washing away the map drawn on the forearm reminds us of our desire to see beyond distinctions of artificiality and reality.
