With Office

Zero Space, based in the Dongdaemun area, has practiced “sustainable design” and “zero waste” through a variety of collaboration projects with people of small businesses throughout the region, corporations, and organizations, expanding the boundaries of the relationships between art and design. Among the essential human conditions of clothing, food, and housing, Zero Space focuses on clothing and daily items. The group examines the processes from production to consumption and how human beings lead a “good life, secure good objects, and maintain good work (production),” while exploring various related issues in their collaboration projects.

During the biennale, Zero Space sets up a pop-up office, in which they not only present completed products but also demonstrate how many different collaborative relationships are created during the production process of a single item. This temporary office also functions as a co-working space for nomadic creators and as a temporary community, which collects stories about a “good life.” The popup office of this biennale provides an opportunity to showcase the power of dissemination stemming from collaborative activities. Zero Space also hosts a special project to demonstrate the planning process and mass production of goods pertaining to daily life (e.g. sewing boxes, plates, and watches).
