Leeje

Leeje paints everyday experiences and dreamlike imaginations in an uncertain world. Her works examine images that capture contemporary emotions and explore the possibilities of painting as a medium for expansion. For the artist, “a painting” is an event that senses the ambiguity of existence and serves as a site of connection that resonates with reality outside, while “painting” is a performative practice that attempts to approach the time and space of various subjects in addition to keeping a distance from the expanding and dividing world. Since 2015, Leeje has been running non-profit art space Hapjungjigu and also participated in the 11th Seoul Mediacity Biennale, One Escape at a Time.
