This event was organized as a preliminary program for the 11th Seoul Mediacity Biennale (formerly titled Seoul Mediacity Biennale 2020).

Screening explored how the escapist imagination found in popular media—such as fantasy and superhero films—can, paradoxically, prompt reflection on the present and serve as a source of inspiration for imagining change in everyday life. The selected works closely aligned with the Biennale’s interest in highlighting the power of popular culture and contemporary art.

Following each screening, conversations with the artists and curators provided an opportunity to share the curatorial intentions, key questions, and artistic ideas with the audience, seeking to expand the Biennale’s curatorial scope.
