This is the video documentation of the pre-Biennale Open Discussion for the 10th Seoul Mediacity Biennale, held from October 25 to October 26, 2017, at the meeting room on the first floor of the Seoul Museum of Art administration building.
In this program, experts from various fields gathered to present their individual ideas for the 2018 Biennale and to discuss how the Biennale could address and represent the current state of our society. Participants included Kim Jung-heon (artist, former Chairman of the Arts Council Korea(ARKO), Shim Sang-yong (Professor of Curatorial Studies at Dongduk Women’s University), Lee Kyung-nam (Director of the Meditation and Healing Institute), Lee Byung-chun ( Economics Professor, Kangwon National University), Daul Jang (Head of Climate and Energy, Greenpeace East Asia Seoul Office), Choi So-yeon (Director of Take-out Drawing), Choi Jung-soo (artist and curator), Hong Gi-bin (Director of the Global Political Economy Institute), Kim Kyu-hang (columnist), Inseon Kim (Director of Space Willing N Dealing), Seo Jin-seok (Director of the Nam June Paik Art Center), Yang Yiwonyoung (Korea Federation for Environmental Movements), Yoon Ho-seop (green designer), Lee Je-seok (advertising designer), Cho Han Hae-joang (cultural anthropologist), and Joo Jae Hwan (artist).
Together, they shared ideas on changes in operational approaches and explored the possibility of a Biennale that comprehensively engages with critical issues across diverse sectors.
