This is a video documentation of the Agora – How to Live(lecture), held on 27 September, 2018, at the Seoul Museum of Art as part of the 10th Seoul Mediacity Biennale good life(u EZên). The session was part of the lecture series “The Evolution of Homo Economicus: the Resurrection of Commoners”, curated by economist Dr. Hyung Joon Park. In this session, Kate Raworth, Senior Research Associate at the University of Oxford, gave a talk on a new economic paradigm titled ‘Doughnut Economics’, with Dr. Park serving as the moderator.
This edition of the biennale was structured to foster dialogue between the public and experts through a variety of discussion-based programs. As a symbolic space for such interactions, a discussion forum named Agora was installed inside the first-floor exhibition hall of the museum, where continuous conversations and debates on the biennale’s core theme, good life, were held. The program was divided into three main sessions based on its thematic focus: Ways of Living, Ways of Acting, and Ways of Playing. This particular event was part of the Ways of Living session, which was designed to explore how to live in times of profound transformation. It included lectures and discussions aimed at understanding the limitations of growth-centric thinking and proposing new ways of life. This lecture was the first in a series of three talks by invited international economists from the UK, Belgium, and beyond.
