Founded by Ji-Hyun Yoon and Taiyun Kim, A/DD/A is the first collaborative project between that explores the relationship between new media and reality. This reflects on the conversion process from digital to analogue. The noise generated from the conversion process from analogue to digital and vice versa, reveals the current weakness in the construction of new media. The circulation of this work comprises three parts: A/D Converting, Noise Generating Devise and D/A Converting. A/D converter is an analog-to-digital device that uses the analog process with programming that separates the digital form. The phrase “Go Out and Play” reappears across social networks in search of someone on the opposite end of the network while scanning his or her to generate noise. The conversion moments of D/A and A/D have intentional time differences to maximize noise in order to dramatically reveal the difference between digital and analogue. D/A conversion is outsourced from a digital text projector. The digital file seems perfect yet it still originates from an object considered imperfect in an analog, and there is an abundance of noise in the real world. As noise repeats and accumulates intensity, the audience can confirm the reality of a virtual image that has managed to deceive them in a sentimental play. As this system of circulation repeats, artists keep shouting out at the audience, “Go Out and Play”.
