In Nail Art Museum Famous New Media Artist Jeremy Bailey demonstrates new software that allows him to curate and host virtual exhibitions on museum plinths attached to his fingernails “the most powerful objects in the museum.” In the video Bailey appears anonymously, expressing concern about revealing his identity in the wake of an increasing number of digital privacy concerns. The work playfully examines common tensions inherent to our internet age, fame versus privacy, personal expression versus appropriation, while highlighting the power museums have traditionally held in these dialectics.
