JK Keller is known as an artist working at the intersection of handcraft, collections of digital objects and computation errors. Using a compulsive and repetitious spin-off of digital images, the artist transforms them into abstract shapes. His works have already been viewed by millions Online and have also been featured on several websites like the NY Times.com, BoingBoing and the start page of Yahoo. With Realigning My Thoughts on Jasper Johns in 2011, Keller devised a “glitch” version of a Simpsons episode Mom and Pop Art (Season 10, Episode 19), in which the seminal pop-artist Jasper Johns appears as himself. Using recollections of Johns’ 1960s pop culture, Keller transforms The Simpsons into a mass-produced pop cultural object and intentionally distorts the episode image and sound with the misappropriation of standardized software tools. The distortion effect is created by digitally saving and converting into vectors every single frame of The Simpsons episode. The files are then processed further in Adobe Illustrator using alignment and distribution tools, before finally being reassembled into a continuous video.
