Would be possible that our consciousness and the world view are fed to us arbitrarily by notion? The question Sota Ichikawa asked in the mid 90’s grave birth to the activities of doubleNegatives Architecture [dNA], on which “Super Eys” is based. Apart from the bird’s eye space notation from the Cartesian Coordinates System. Architecture, to them, engages the measuring of space from an individual object to the surrounding directions, and include the dynamic changing process with time and in motion. What is set as a result is the “Super Eye,” which possesses individual perspectives. The “Super Eye” project arbitrarily set the zero point and a sphere surrounding it in all directions, with the world being notated by measuring the distance from the zero point to each objective. By projecting the image to sphere not on a flat surface, it conveys the concept of a non-hierarchal world which is open to all directions.
Upon entering the mid 2000s, dNA devised the “Copora” or aggregates of super eyes that reflect the multiple data transmission, from the projects where virtual “buildings” constantly go through transformations in real time by getting the data from weather sensors installed outside onwards, their work scope has expanded to physical buildings. The data is transmitted to an enormous number of nodes that make up a wire-framed structure, with each node evaluating the environmental condition and structural stability autonomously that buildings endlessly grow or deteriorate as copora. Each node is equipped with super eyes that diverse subjective perspectives develop into mutual relations and can create a complex structure as a whole. The Copora not only depicts “buildings” as something decentralized and flexible, but are also in line with the dynamics of the current society where individuals autonomously participate in networking.
