Kim Hyonkyong studied Anthropology in Seoul National University, and received her Doctoral degree in ‘History and Civilizations’ at the École des hautes études en Sciences Sociales in France. Her doctoral dissertation was on the modernization of Korea and studying abroad practices. She identifies herself as an independent scholar, and aims to experiment with new ways of academic writing.
