Beginning in 1974, Kim Yong-Ik’s art practice has traversed the boundaries between major art movements such as modernism, conceptualism, realism, public art, and ecological art. His seminal works include the Plane Object series of the 1970s and the Closer… Come Closer… series of the 1990s. Throughout his oeuvre, Kim seeks to convey the process and temporality of art creation through minimalist painting, which he augments in a multidimensional textual tandem with his art.
