Geumhyung Jeong
Geumhyung Jeong draws upon elements of performance and installation art to create situations where the human body and bodies made of machine parts interact. By choreographing encounters between her own body and these machines, which the artist constructs herself from everyday equipment, including mannequins and medical devices, the artist unravels preconceptions of being physical, sensual, and animated. Jeong majored in performing arts and film at Hoseo University and studied dance and performance in the School of Dance at Korea National University of Arts. She has held solo exhibitions at SongEun ArtSpace in Seoul (2018), Kunsthalle Basel (2019), and Fondazione Modena Arti Visive (2020). International exhibitions include the 3rd New Museum Triennial (2015) and the 9th Asia Pacific Triennial (2018–19). She was awarded the Hermès Foundation Missulsang in 2015.
