Geologic Techno: Listen to the Earth Beat

Geologic Techno: Listen to the Earth Beat is a program about creating and experiencing a new type of techno music which transforms the seismic waves generated from the Earth’s movement into the techno sound. The program consists of six sessions of lecture, four sessions of workshops and two lecture performances. Held every Saturday afternoon from July 23 to August 27, of the course of scholarly lectures are the open research which will collectively contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the principles of earthquake, visualizes kinetic energy and sound waves, energy consumption, mechanic culture and sound mixing generated by mechanical instruments that are present in our daily lives yet remain imperceptible. The production workshop is an open laboratory for geologic researchers, techno musicians and an audio engineer to transform the seismic waves from off-grid locations into the sound wave while expanding geologic imagination and experiment. The artist’s lecture performances scheduled for the final weekends will share the program’s research findings and allow audiences to enjoy the finished techno music with a live DJ set.
