Since the 1990’s, Hong Sungmin participated in The Museum Exhibition in 1988, which catalyzed a turning point for the Korean contemporary art scene. He also produced and directed large-scale avant-garde theatrical productions since 2000. One of this main influences includes Antonin Artaud’s ‘Theatre of Cruetly’. Hong introduced radical and critical productions based on references of varied narratives from both high culture and popular entertainment with a sense of irony and humor.
