No one left behind
This program was organized in conjunction with the artwork No one left behind by Listen to the City, presented in the 10th Seoul Mediacity Biennale Eu Zên.
While sociologist Ulrich Beck once remarked that “smog is democratic,” suggesting that disasters affect everyone equally, the reality is that a “disaster” arises when “risk” is coupled with “vulnerability.” This results in disproportionately greater harm to the socially marginalized groups. In particular, people with disabilities, the elderly, children, and women are often exposed to higher risks, facing both physical and structural barriers during evacuation.
No one left behind workshop simulated a magnitude 6.8 earthquake in Seoul. Participants were invited to imagine what they can do and how they might act in the midst of such a crisis, exploring concrete action plans for how individuals with limited mobility and those around them can respond safely together.
