Newsletter October 2023 Issue NEW MOONS

NEW MOONS, the October issue of the Seoul Mediacity Biennale Periodicals Newsletter, offers insight into understanding of memory with regard to displacement and time, the ways in which contemporary media is incorporated into the creation of artworks, and cultural topographies delineated through the context of the Biennale’s existing network. By rereading the artworks and art practices introduced in the Biennale, we become better equipped to acknowledge subconscious and psychological experiences of migration, varied soundscapes of the hidden spaces and undiluted voices of different cities around the world, amalgamated forms of media that occupy AI generated digital maps and borderless atlases, redrawn memories of colonization materialized through mud and soil, and new aesthetics that appropriate the visual designs of migrants living in Rotterdam—all of which suggest portraits of a broader sense of belonging.
