This is a video documentation of the workshop Art Beyond the Creative City: Art, Politics and Urban Life, led by Pascal Gielen as part of the SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2016 NERIRI KIRURU HARARA summer camp The Village, held at the Nam-Seoul Museum of Art from August 16 to 19, 2016. The summer camp The Village, planned by artist Yang Ah Ham, was a gathering of autonomous individuals who shared creative learning based on respect for oneself and others, aiming for a better life and society. Through activities, dialogue, creation, movement, and labor, the camp closely explored and experimented with the concepts of creativity and learning. Art Beyond the Creative City: Art, Politics and Urban Life consisted of five lectures by Pascal Gielen, which analyzed the relationship between the global financial crisis that erupted in 2007 and cultural funding policies, while examining alternative practices organized by creative activists and laborers. The first session focused on macro-sociological changes and global culture, with English-Korean consecutive interpreation provided.
