The artist playfully references the work of his friend and fellow artist, Douglas Gordon. Much like Robert Rauschenberg’s 1950s gesture of erasing a Willem de Kooning drawing, Bismuth presents a video work by Gordon but keeps the video monitor unplugged, rendering Gordon’s artwork invisible.
