Euljiro 3-ga subway station is a transfer point between Line 2 and Line 3. Both walls of the underground transfer corridor are adorned with wall paintings: Atomaus by Lee Donggi and The Anti-Hero by Kang Young Mean. These characters, positioned on opposite walls, are transformed into somewhat simple renderings. They are depicted using primary colors, which convert the dull, stifling passageway into a livelier and more colorful space. Wall painting is a very good medium for cultural heritage because they are popular and can be seen by many people. However, not every wall painting can be a public image. We have seen many wall paintings in subway stations that are not popular. For wall paintings to be popular, they have to resonate with the masses. Subway Comic Strip plays between private image and public image.
