For years, Peljhan has explored how various technologies, especially in communications, can reshape sociopolitical divisions. This work experiments with the concept of “transformation,” examining how Soviet military industries could be converted to benefit civilians, such as surveillance missiles being adapted for commercial broadcasting and knowledge-based industries. The artist notes that while the Internet originated from ARPANET, a U.S. military communication system, today it serves far more peaceful and productive purposes.
