This event featured lectures by Hwang Hoduk, Park Sohyun, siren eun young jung as part of Universality In Art and ‘East Asia’, the first pre-Biennale of the SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2014. Universality In Art and ‘East Asia’ consisted of three lectures exploring how locally rooted artistic practices can be connected to universal values in art.
Hwang Hoduk, a scholar of colonial culture between modern Japan and Korea; Park Sohyun, an expert in Japanese contemporary art; and siren eun young jung, who has recently worked on the Yeoseong Gukgeuk Project (Korean or National Women’s Theater), shared specific perspectives on the cultural entanglement and mutual influence between Japanese and Korean traditions.
