This event featured a lecture by Wang Hui as part of Universality In Art and ‘East Asia’, the first pre-Biennale of the SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2014. Universality In Art and ‘East Asia’ consisted of three lectures exploring how locally rooted artistic practices can be connected to universal values in art.

Wang Hui, a scholar of modern Chinese literature and intellectual history, lectured on the dynamics between empires and regions in Asia, intra-East Asian relations, European Orientalism, and the influence of new media environments on’Asia.’ Literary critic Hwang Ho-duk moderated this session to guide the audience’s understanding.
