Bani Abidi

Bani Abidi uses media including photography, video, and sound to analyze the political landscape of South Asia. Criticizing the instrumentalization of news reporting, her works call for a more nuanced perspective on issues such as religious conflicts between Pakistan and India. Abidi graduated from the National College of Arts, Lahore, with a BFA in 1994, and earned an MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1999. She has lived and worked in Berlin since participating in the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program in 2011–12. International exhibitions include the 9th Busan Biennale (2018) and 1st Lahore Biennale (2018). She has held solo exhibitions at institutions including Gandhara Art Space, Karachi; Kunsthaus Hamburg; and Gropius Bau, Berlin.
