Oliver Laric
Oliver Laric works extensively with various digital techniques, such as 3D scanning and printing, to create animations, sculptures, and installations. Laric often reconfigures and melds together materials from diverse genres, cultures, and time periods to generate series of intangible narratives. In doing so, he probes into ideas of the cultural and creative value of images and objects, blurring the line between the authentic and the facsimile to challenge our perceptions of time and reality. One of Laric’s pivotal early projects, Versions, was shown at the MIT List Visual Arts Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 2013. He has since held solo exhibitions at institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland and Vienna Secession (both 2016) and the Saint Louis Art Museum (2019). He has also participated in international group exhibitions such as the Liverpool Biennial 2016, the 6th Guangzhou Triennial (2018), and the 33rd Bienal de São Paulo (2018).
