Pauline Boudry / Renate Lorenz
Forming their partnership in Berlin in 2007, Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz produce film installations based on choreography and performance. Working from queer theory and politics, they experiment with elements of performance, ranging from music and dance to staging. Through their long-term collaborations with performers from diverse fields, the artists further challenge normative narratives and conventions in history and artistic practice. The duo represented Switzerland at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019. They have held solo exhibitions and presentations at institutions including Nottingham Contemporary (2015), the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (2017), and the Centre Culturel Suisse, Paris (2018). Their work has been featured in group exhibitions at institutions such as the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis (2019), and Kadist Foundation, San Francisco (2020), as well as the 11th Gwangju Biennale (2016).
