As President of the Victorian Spiritualists’ Union, Melbourne, which houses much of Georgiana Houghton(1814-1884)’s work, Lorraine Lee Tet will expand upon the development of Houghton’s mediumship and her unique relationship with the spirit world that enabled her to produce the paintings on display in the 13th Seoul Mediacity Biennale.

Lorraine has a 50-year background in nursing and medical administration. Her journey into Spiritualism began in 1976 when she joined the Victorian Spiritualists’ Union (VSU) while seeking spiritual understanding of the afterlife. From the moment she entered the VSU chapel, she was captivated by the artwork displayed there, which sparked a lifelong passion for spirit-inspired art. Lorraine has served as the VSU president since 2006 and became a Spiritualist Minister in 2009.

As an active medium and teacher, Lorraine is committed to guiding VSU members and the public on their spiritual journeys. She holds a special role as a custodian of the 35 Georgiana Houghton spirit paintings housed by the VSU, ensuring their preservation through specialised restoration works when needed. She also collaborates on publications, including the VSU’s ‘Georgiana Houghton: A Gift From Spirit,’ and continues to research and educate herself about Georgiana’s life and work.

Venue: B1 SeMA hall, Seoul Museum of Art
