
Taeyoon Choi is an artist, writer, and computer programmer, who explores the intersections of poetry, technology, society, and human relations. He is the organizer behind Distributed Web of Care, an initiative that focuses on building community responsibility for the future of the internet, one that is more sensitive to marginalized people and the environment. He’s currently researching the relationship between colonialism and climate change, focusing on resource extraction, waste management and decolonial futures. He also co-founded the School for Poetic Computation in 2013, a unique New York-based hybrid of a school, residency, and research group that focuses on exploring the intersections of coding and art. He currently teaches at the Department of Sociology at Yonsei University in Seoul. Taeyoon has presented his projects at esteemed institutions and biennals such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, Washington, DC; and Shanghai Biennale.
