Since 1997, Hong Seung-Hye has presented installation works based on paintings and flash animations within the visual vernacular of pixels as the basic units of digital images. In Organic Geometry, she regards the simple structure of a pixel as both a living organism as well as the default value standard of the modern world and develops methods of cultivating and constructing this reality. Hong has participated in the most editions of Seoul Mediacity Biennales out of any artist, with four appearances to date: the 2nd SEOUL in MEDIA FOOD, CLOTHING, SHELTER (1998), media_city seoul 2002 Luna’s Flow, Mediacity Seoul 2012 Spell on You, and SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2016 NERIRI KIRURU HARARA.
