This is a video documentation of a lecture “The Intimate Strangers” by social anthropologist Kwon Heoni, delivered on October 24, 2014. The lecture was held as the third session of Part 2 “Miracles, Violence, Disorders and Spirits”, of the conference Miracles, Violence, Disorders and Spirits (괴력난신), co-organized by SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2014 and the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation. Kwon discussed the ethics of sympathy on a large scale created by such a little phenomenon called ‘Ba Ba Linh’, the old female ghost of Vietnam.
