In Space and Perception 1988-2, the artist uses beach scenes to reproduce a round world. The clear sky that stretches across the top of this photograph forms a symmetry with the ocean’s white foaming waves. In turn, these waves establish a divided surface composed of smaller surfaces that adhere to a non-aligned visual field between the boundaries of each plane. This fosters a perception of the waves as a moving tadal image that surges toward land and recedes back toward the ocean.
